സഞ്ജു സാംസണ്: Sanju Samson Struggles in IPL 2026 with Chennai Super Kings
By Rohan Mehta / 06.04.2026
What does Sanju Samson’s underwhelming performance in the IPL 2026 season mean for his future with the Chennai Super Kings? Samson has failed to reach double digits in three matches, raising concerns among fans and analysts alike.
In his first match, Samson scored just 6 runs off 7 balls. This was followed by a 7-run performance in his second match, also off 7 balls, and a slightly better showing of 9 runs off 5 balls in his third match. Overall, he has played 3 matches without crossing the double-digit mark.
The Chennai Super Kings have also struggled, losing all three of their opening matches in the 2026 IPL season. This poor start has put additional pressure on the team and its captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose leadership is now under scrutiny.
Fans have expressed their disappointment not only in Samson’s scores but also in his demeanor on the field. Many have criticized his body language, suggesting he appears frustrated and disconnected during matches. One fan remarked, “If you’re not mentally in it, then step aside for a few games,” while another noted, “Your body language is screaming disinterest.”
Moreover, a fan pointed out, “Honestly, I’ve never seen you smiling even…” indicating a perceived lack of passion from the player. This sentiment has been echoed by many, with fans calling for Samson to reconsider his position in the team.
Samson joined the Chennai Super Kings after leaving the captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals, and expectations were high following his performance in the T20 World Cup. However, the current season has not lived up to those hopes.
As the season progresses, the question remains: will Samson be able to turn his performance around, or will the mounting pressure lead to further scrutiny of his role in the team?
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential changes to the team lineup or captaincy as the Chennai Super Kings look to recover from their poor start.
