csk vs kkr — IN news
In

Matheesha Pathirana has cleared the mandatory fitness test and is expected to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of their match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, Chennai, on Tuesday. KKR, however, is struggling this season, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with just one point from four matches, having suffered three defeats and one match that ended without a result.

Pathirana, who previously played for CSK, had a successful stint, taking 47 wickets in 32 matches. His participation in the upcoming match was initially uncertain due to a left-leg injury sustained during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. His return could provide a much-needed boost to KKR’s bowling lineup, which has faced significant challenges this season.

KKR’s recent performances have highlighted their bowling issues, particularly in matches against the Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, where they experienced a 65-run loss and a 6-wicket loss, respectively. The team’s captain, Ajinkya Rahane, has faced criticism for his decisions regarding the batting order, which some observers believe have contributed to the team’s struggles.

In addition to Pathirana’s injury concerns, KKR’s pace bowling lineup has been further affected by the release of Mustafizur Rahman after he was bought in the auction, and the earlier ruling out of Harshit Rana due to injury before the season commenced. Blessing Muzarabani has since replaced Rahman in the squad.

As KKR prepares for the match against CSK, the team will be looking to turn their fortunes around and secure their first win of the season. Details remain unconfirmed regarding Pathirana’s availability for the match, but his return could be pivotal for KKR as they aim to improve their standing in the league.
