Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders Match Scorecard
By Rohan Mehta / 14.04.2026
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14, 2026, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This match was crucial for both teams, particularly for KKR, who were seeking their first win of the season after a string of losses. CSK, on the other hand, had recently broken their losing streak with a victory against the Delhi Capitals, making this match significant for their morale.
In the match, CSK batted first and scored 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sanju Samson was the standout performer for CSK, contributing 48 runs to the total. The team had a strong start, scoring 72 runs in the powerplay, which set a solid foundation for their innings. However, they faced a middle-overs slowdown that allowed KKR to restrict their scoring.
In response, KKR managed to score 160 runs for 7 wickets, falling short by 32 runs. CSK’s Noor Ahmad was instrumental in the bowling department, taking 3 wickets for just 21 runs, which played a crucial role in limiting KKR’s scoring. This victory marked CSK’s second consecutive win, a feat they had not achieved in two years.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, reflecting on the match, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Definitely feeling good, to be honest.” He acknowledged the challenges faced during the match, particularly the changing conditions, saying, “I felt it was a par score, given that the wicket drastically changed after the first, I would say, seven or eight overs.” His comments highlighted the team’s adaptability in response to the match conditions.
Despite the loss, KKR’s struggles continued as they remained winless this season. Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of KKR, faced disciplinary action for a slow over rate, resulting in a fine of INR 12 lakh. This incident further compounded the challenges facing the team as they look to regroup and find their form.
CSK’s victory not only boosts their confidence but also places them in a better position in the league standings. Observers noted that the team’s ability to bounce back after a difficult start to the season is commendable. With this win, CSK aims to build momentum as they look ahead to their upcoming matches.
As the season progresses, both teams will need to address their respective challenges. For CSK, maintaining consistency will be key, while KKR will be eager to turn their fortunes around. The next matches will be crucial for both teams as they strive to secure their positions in the league.
