Kartik Tyagi Prepares for Upcoming Match Against Lucknow Super Giants
By Rohan Mehta / 14.04.2026
What challenges does Kartik Tyagi face as he prepares for the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants? The 25-year-old pacer for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is determined to overcome a series of injuries that have limited his playtime in recent seasons.
Tyagi has made significant biomechanical adjustments to his bowling action, which have allowed him to maintain a speed of 145-plus kph. Despite these efforts, he acknowledges the difficulties posed by his injury history, stating, “It’s not the team’s fault because I was unfit myself.” His commitment to the game remains strong, as he expressed, “We have it in our minds that we have to win the match. We are quite hungry.”
Currently, KKR is facing a tough season, positioned eighth in the IPL 2026 points table with just one point after three matches, including a rain-abandoned game. The team is also missing key players like Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana due to injuries, further complicating their situation.
In a recent motivational meeting, Tyagi met with KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who inspired the players to strive for excellence. Tyagi remarked, “He motivated us a lot. His attitude is always about striving to be the best, and that is exactly what he told us.” This encouragement comes at a crucial time as the team prepares for their next challenge.
As Tyagi gears up for the match against LSG, he is focused on delivering his best performance despite the pressure of returning to play after a long gap. He noted, “Sometimes you go in with a plan, but under pressure–especially if you’re playing after a long gap–it’s not easy to think clearly.” The upcoming match will be a significant test for both Tyagi and KKR as they seek to turn their season around.
