BMW M440i Convertible: A Blend of Luxury and Performance
The BMW M440i Convertible combines luxury and performance with a surprisingly usable design for everyday driving in India. Owning a convertible in India is more of an indulgence than any other type of car. However, the M440i aims to change that perception.
This model features a 3.0-litre in-line six turbo engine. It produces 369bhp and 500Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds according to BMW. Yet, independent tests clocked it at an impressive 4.43 seconds.
The M440i Convertible boasts a folding fabric roof that opens or closes in just 18 seconds at speeds up to 50km/h. This feature enhances its usability, allowing drivers to transition between open-air driving and closed comfort seamlessly.
Inside, the car offers a premium experience with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and wireless charging capabilities. The continuous curved panel includes a 12.3-inch driver’s display alongside a 14.9-inch touchscreen, providing an intuitive interface for drivers.
With a boot capacity of 385 litres, the M440i Convertible surpasses the sedan’s space by 10 litres. This added practicality helps it stand out among other luxury sedans and performance cars.
The car weighs 1,890kg and features adaptive sports suspension for improved ride quality. This technology enhances both comfort and handling, making it suitable for various driving conditions.
Some experts have noted that while the M440i has its own personality, it isn’t as sharp as the BMW M4 Competition or the M340i models. “This isn’t a point-and-shoot scalpel like the M340i,” one reviewer remarked.
Overall, the BMW M440i Convertible presents itself as a surprisingly usable car, despite the body style not being ideal for India. The blend of luxury features with performance capabilities positions it uniquely within the market.
