Delhi capitals vs chennai super kings match scorecard
By Ananya Rao / 06.05.2026
Chennai Super Kings completed a double over Delhi Capitals with a convincing eight-wicket victory on May 5, 2026, at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. CSK chased down the target with ease, scoring 159 for 2 in just 17.3 overs.
Delhi Capitals batted first and managed to post a total of 155 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Sameer Rizvi top-scored for DC with a rapid 40 runs off 24 balls. However, their total proved insufficient against a rejuvenated CSK bowling attack.
Sanju Samson led the charge for CSK, scoring an impressive 87 not out off 52 balls. His innings showcased both aggression and precision as he guided his team to victory. This win marked CSK’s second triumph over DC in IPL 2026, solidifying their competitive edge.
Noor Ahmad was instrumental with the ball for CSK, taking 2 wickets for just 22 runs in three overs. His performance highlighted the significant improvement in CSK’s bowling attack after a shaky start to the season.
The match had implications for the points table. With this victory, CSK climbed to sixth place with a total of 10 points. In contrast, DC fell to seventh place with only 8 points.
Axar Patel acknowledged the challenge his team faced, stating, “Obviously, the way the wicket was playing in the first innings, I felt that yes, 155 was a good score. But since we were playing with eight batters, I felt we were about 10-15 runs short.” Ruturaj Gaikwad also praised Samson’s contribution and emphasized the teamwork that led to their success.
The match exemplified CSK’s historical advantage over DC in IPL encounters. Their economy rate has improved significantly over recent matches, now standing at 8.15.
