PISA, ITALY – MARCH 2: Marius Marin of Pisa Sporting Club competes for possession against Jens Odgaard of Bologna FC 1909 during the Serie A encounter between Pisa SC and Bologna FC 1909 at Arena Garibaldi on March 2, 2026, in Pisa, Italy. (Photo by Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images)

A touch of brilliance from Jens Odgaard secured all three points for Bologna, while Pisa faced frustration due to Lukasz Skorupski’s saves and a crucial goal-line clearance.

Match Highlights and Key Moments

The introduction of new Pisa manager Oscar Hiljemark has not brought stability, resulting in a draw and two losses, although the matches were closely contested. Daniel Denoon and Simone Scuffet remained sidelined. Meanwhile, the Rossoblu appeared to have turned a corner, celebrating consecutive Serie A wins and preparing for a Europa League Round of 16 matchup against Roma. Juan Miranda, Charalampos Lykogiannis, and Torbjorn Heggem were absent from the journey.

In the early moments of the match, Martin Vitik took a fierce shot from Marius Marin directly to the face. Although he attempted to carry on, the impact left him disoriented, leading to his substitution after just 21 minutes.

Pisa’s Struggles Under New Manager

Mehdi Leris narrowly missed connecting with a cross from Stefano Moreo at the far post, while Santiago Castro should have capitalized better, sending a shot over the bar after evading Antonio Caracciolo to break free on goal.

Castro had yet another significant chance when he was played through by a brilliant slide-rule pass from Nikola Moro, but his angled shot found the inside of the far post after getting past Nicolas.

Following the restart, Lukasz Skorupski was required to make two crucial saves in rapid succession. First, he fully extended himself to deflect a perilous cross away as Leris was sliding in unmarked at the far post, ready to score, and then from the ensuing corner, he managed to push a free header from Moreo away from just beneath the crossbar.

Bologna’s Recent Success

Castro witnessed his shot redirected into the side-netting by Francesco Coppola, yet Skorupski was required to make another remarkable save, diving to deflect Gabriele Piccinini’s angled attempt just inches past the far post following a well-coordinated team effort.

When Skorupski was ultimately defeated by a soaring header from Filip Stojilkovic, he was saved by a crucial goal-line clearance from Nadir Zortea.

In a stunning turn of events, the deadlock was finally shattered in the last minute of regular play. Jens Odgaard, with his back to the goal and positioned just outside the box, executed a brilliant turn and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the upper corner of the net.
