Ishan Kishan Shines in ICC T20 World Cup Semi-Final
“Pitch looked flat. Knew we needed a good total. Had to get momentum going. He batted in a way that left me little to do,” said Ishan Kishan after India’s impressive performance against England in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
India scored a formidable 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs, with Kishan contributing 39 runs to the total. His innings, while not the highest, was pivotal in setting the stage for a strong finish.
Sanju Samson was the standout performer, scoring 89 runs off just 42 balls, which included 8 boundaries. His explosive batting helped India secure a spot in the final, where they will face New Zealand on March 8.
Ishan Kishan’s earlier performance against Namibia was also noteworthy, where he scored 61 runs off 24 balls, helping India post a total of 209 for nine. Namibia was bowled out for 116 runs, showcasing India’s dominance in that match as well.
“The plan was clear – if the ball is there, go for it,” Kishan remarked, reflecting the aggressive mindset that has characterized India’s approach throughout the tournament.
As the team prepares for the final, Kishan acknowledged the significance of the upcoming match, stating, “Pakistan clash, obviously, it would be a special one for everyone.” This highlights the intense rivalry and the high stakes involved in the final.
India’s fearless batting approach has been a key factor in their success, as evidenced by their record-breaking partnership between Kishan and Samson in the knockout stages of the tournament.
With the final against New Zealand on the horizon, fans are eager to see if Kishan and his teammates can continue their winning streak and bring home the trophy.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any changes to the lineup or strategy as the team gears up for this crucial match.
