Karnal: UPSC Success Amidst Ongoing Protests
Karnal has been a focal point for both educational achievements and healthcare challenges. Recently, Lavkesh from Munk village in Karnal district secured the 488th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. His father, Rajesh, runs a small grocery shop, and the family lives in modest conditions, facing various health and financial challenges. Despite these obstacles, Lavkesh balanced his studies with responsibilities at the shop, showcasing determination and resilience.
Breaking Development
On the other hand, the healthcare sector in Karnal is currently embroiled in protests. Doctors have been striking for three days as of March 7, 2026, in response to an alleged assault on Dr. Prashant Chauhan by police personnel. The incident occurred on March 4, 2026, and has led to significant unrest among the medical community.
The strike has seen government doctors suspending outpatient department (OPD) services while maintaining emergency services. The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) is demanding that an FIR be filed against the police personnel involved in the assault, which reportedly involved four officers.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Haryana condemned the incident, stating, “It is disturbing when the force designed for protection of the law-abiding citizens becomes a source of intimidation and brutality, and that too of an on-duty government doctor.” This statement reflects the gravity of the situation and the concerns of healthcare professionals regarding their safety.
Dr. Sanjay Verma, a representative of the protesting doctors, emphasized their demand for accountability, saying, “Our only request is to the district administration to register the FIR against the SHO and others.” Meanwhile, Dr. Poonam Chaudhary expressed hope that normal services would soon resume, stating, “Doctors have started emergency services and I am hopeful they will resume other services soon.”
As the protests continue, the local administration faces pressure to address the demands of the medical community. Observers are watching closely to see how the situation unfolds and whether the authorities will take action regarding the FIR request. The coming days will be crucial for both the healthcare sector and the broader community in Karnal.
