Premier League Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes Breaks Assist Record
By Rohan Mehta / 16.03.2026
In a significant development for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes has broken the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season for the club. This milestone was achieved during a commanding 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on March 16, 2026.
Fernandes provided two assists in the match, bringing his total to 16 for the current 2025-2026 Premier League season. This surpasses the previous record held by David Beckham, who had 15 assists during the 1999-2000 season.
In addition to Fernandes’ record-breaking performance, Matheus Cunha scored the second goal for Manchester United, contributing to the team’s overall success. The victory marks the sixth successive home win for interim manager Michael Carrick, who has led the team to a strong position in the league.
Currently, Manchester United sits in third place in the Premier League standings, showcasing a solid performance throughout the season. Carrick’s leadership has been pivotal, as he continues to guide the team effectively.
Bruno Fernandes’ achievement adds to his growing legacy at Manchester United, where he has become a key player since joining the club. His ability to create scoring opportunities has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes.
As for Aston Villa, they have shown resilience in their last 12 league matches, managing to secure 12 points. However, they faced a challenging opponent in Manchester United, who capitalized on their home advantage.
Benjamin Sesko has also been a notable performer for Manchester United, scoring 8 goals in just 10 games, further bolstering the team’s attacking options.
Michael Carrick expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “We can enjoy winning. We are keeping a lid on it and understanding where we are and what it takes to win games like today. We are in a good position at the moment but still a lot to play for.”
As the season progresses, Manchester United will aim to maintain their momentum and continue competing for the top positions in the Premier League. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential changes in the team’s strategy or player lineup as they move forward.
