“We are going to contest elections alone. Go to the constituencies and do field work. The list of candidates will be announced soon. I am also going to tour all over Tamil Nadu. We will definitely win the elections,” stated Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, as he announced his party’s decision to contest the upcoming Assembly elections independently.

This announcement comes at a time when the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur is poised to make significant contributions to Indian Railways. The ICF is set to manufacture 260 sleeper-class Vande Bharat trains over the next three years, a move aimed at enhancing overnight travel options across the country.

The first sleeper-class Vande Bharat service was launched earlier this year in January, connecting Howrah and Guwahati. These new sleeper trains are designed specifically for overnight journeys, featuring enhanced safety systems and improved suspension to ensure passenger comfort.

Historically, the Integral Coach Factory has been at the forefront of coach manufacturing in India, and it has been receiving a steady stream of production orders to meet the growing demand for sleeper-class Vande Bharat trains.

Vijay’s political ambitions are also noteworthy, as he is likely to contest from the Perambur constituency in the upcoming elections. His decision to go solo is expected to lead to a multi-cornered contest in the 2026 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

The developments in both the transportation sector and the political landscape in Perambur highlight the region’s growing significance. As the ICF ramps up production, the introduction of sleeper-class Vande Bharat trains is anticipated to transform overnight travel for many passengers.

As Vijay embarks on his campaign, he aims to connect with voters across Tamil Nadu, promising to announce his list of candidates soon. The upcoming elections are set to be a crucial moment for his party and the political dynamics in the state.

With the Integral Coach Factory’s advancements in train manufacturing and Vijay’s political strategies, Perambur is poised to be at the center of significant changes in both transportation and governance in the near future.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact timelines for the manufacturing and deployment of the new trains, but the expectations are high as the region prepares for these developments.
