Arsenal Advances in Champions League and Prepares for League Cup Final
By Vikram Nair / 18.03.2026
“We’re looking forward to it a lot,” said Leandro Trossard, reflecting the optimism within the Arsenal camp as they prepare for the upcoming League Cup final against Manchester City.
Arsenal recently secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, resulting in a 3-1 aggregate win. Trossard praised teammate Eberechi Eze’s impressive goal during the match, stating, “It’s an amazing goal.”
In addition to their Champions League success, Arsenal is aiming for a historic quadruple this season, with the League Cup being a significant part of their ambitions. However, they face challenges as they head into the final.
Manchester City will be missing at least two key players for the match, with Josko Gvardiol injured and Marc Guehi ineligible. Meanwhile, Arsenal will also have to contend with absences, including Mikel Merino, and uncertainties surrounding Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber’s availability.
Rico Lewis, who recently returned to the bench after a five-game absence due to an ankle injury, may provide some depth for Manchester City, but the team will still feel the impact of their missing players.
Arsenal’s Declan Rice played a crucial role in their Champions League progression, scoring a vital second-half goal that helped secure the victory over Bayer Leverkusen. Trossard emphasized the importance of getting the job done, stating, “We just needed to get the business done and I think we did it in a very good way.”
As the League Cup final approaches, both teams will be looking to solidify their positions in the competition. Arsenal’s focus remains on clinching the trophy as they continue their pursuit of multiple titles this season.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the final line-ups as both teams navigate injuries and eligibility issues. The match promises to be a thrilling encounter as Arsenal and Manchester City clash at Wembley.
