FC Goa is gearing up to face Punjab FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on March 16, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Currently, FC Goa remains unbeaten in its first four matches of the season, with two wins and two draws, positioning them fourth in the league table with eight points.

Historically, FC Goa has never lost to Punjab FC in the ISL, having won three matches and drawn one in their previous four encounters. In their last match, FC Goa played to a goalless draw against East Bengal FC, showcasing their ability to maintain possession and control the game.

Punjab FC, on the other hand, is currently eighth in the table with four points from three matches. They were held to a 1-1 draw against NorthEast United in their previous outing, where they delivered the ball into the opponent’s box 26 times, indicating a strong offensive effort despite the draw.

Both teams are expected to face challenges with injuries. FC Goa is likely to miss players Muhammed Nemil and Mohammad Yasir, while Punjab FC will be without captain Nikhil Prabhu and forward Muhammad Suhail.

Manolo Márquez, head coach of FC Goa, expressed confidence in his team’s performance, stating, “Against East Bengal, the team played with a lot of personality and kept possession for long periods. We would like to continue playing in the same way against Punjab.” This reflects the team’s strategy as they prepare for the upcoming match.

In contrast, Punjab FC’s head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis emphasized the need for improvement, saying, “We need faster decision-making and better quality in our final actions.” He also acknowledged the strength of FC Goa, stating, “FC Goa are a very good team with a clear plan and strong players.”

The match is set to kick off at 19:30 IST and will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2. Observers expect a competitive game, given the historical context and current form of both teams.

Ishan Pandita, a key player for FC Goa, noted the significance of the season, saying, “Every season is important for a player, but this one means even more to me considering everything that has happened in the last two or three years.” This sentiment reflects the heightened stakes for players as they aim to perform at their best.

As the match approaches, fans and analysts alike are keen to see if FC Goa can extend their unbeaten streak against Punjab FC, or if the latter can turn the tide in their favor.
