betting apps — IN news

“Do not ruin your life by falling into the trap of betting,”

As the IPL season approaches, Hyderabad Police has issued a stern warning against betting syndicates that have resurfaced, utilizing social media platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram to lure unsuspecting users into scams.

Despite previous bans on hundreds of betting apps, illegal activities have continued to evolve, prompting authorities to take a proactive stance. “We will take strict action against social media influencers who promote these dangerous apps just for money,” stated V.C. Sajjanar, the police commissioner.

Local bookies are reportedly targeting youth, leading them into heavy debts that can devastate families. Sajjanar added, “Do not put your family’s future at risk.”

Hyderabad Police is actively monitoring both online operations and offline betting networks, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating these activities. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious betting activity through Dial 100 or the police WhatsApp number, 94906 16555.

In recent promotions, betting apps have been offering enticing bonuses, such as Parimatch’s 1000% welcome bonus up to ₹70,000, which may further entice users despite the risks involved.

The police have reiterated their commitment to tackling this issue, stating that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in online and offline gambling. They are particularly focused on the role of social media in facilitating these illegal activities.

As the situation develops, authorities remain vigilant, hoping to curb the rise of betting apps and protect the community from the associated dangers.

Authorities continue to stress the importance of awareness and reporting, as the fight against illegal betting remains a priority for the Hyderabad Police.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of the current betting syndicates, but the police are determined to address the issue head-on.
