Jos Buttler’s Performance Update in IPL 2026
By Rohan Mehta / 04.04.2026
In a recent update from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Jos Buttler scored 38 runs off 33 balls in the Gujarat Titans’ first game of the season on April 4, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This performance comes on the heels of a disappointing showing at the T20 World Cup, where he managed only 87 runs across eight innings.
Buttler’s recent form has raised questions among fans and analysts alike, especially considering his impressive tally of 538 runs in 13 innings for the Gujarat Titans last season. His overall IPL statistics are noteworthy, with 4,158 runs in 122 matches at an average of 39.98 and a strike rate of nearly 149.
During the match, Nandre Burger made headlines by taking his 100th T20 wicket, dismissing Buttler with the very first ball he bowled in the 14th over. This marked a significant milestone for Burger, who has been making a name for himself in the league.
In contrast, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shone brightly for the Titans, scoring 52 runs off just 17 balls, showcasing the depth of talent within the team. Aashish Kapoor, a former cricketer, commented on Buttler’s potential to regain form, stating, “It only takes one innings for such players to regain form, and I think he’s on the right path, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
Despite the recent challenges, Buttler’s experience and skill are undeniable. Kapoor further emphasized, “He’s a top player, and there’s no doubt about it.” This sentiment resonates with many who have followed Buttler’s career.
Reflecting on his journey, Buttler himself remarked, “He’s the best player I’ve seen. Imagine when he’s 21 or 25, the world at his feet,” indicating his belief in the young talent around him.
Buttler has excelled in his new role at number three after previously opening for a long time with the Rajasthan Royals. This adjustment may play a crucial role in his performance moving forward.
As the IPL season progresses, fans and analysts will be closely watching Buttler’s performance, hoping for a turnaround after a challenging international outing. Details remain unconfirmed regarding his strategy for the upcoming matches.
