Shimron Hetmyer Leads Rajasthan Royals to Victory Against Gujarat Titans
By Vikram Nair / 04.04.2026
Shimron Hetmyer played a pivotal role in the Rajasthan Royals’ victory against the Gujarat Titans on April 4, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. His performance not only included a quickfire 18 runs off just 8 balls but also a crucial catch that dismissed Kumar Kushagra, who managed to score 18 runs off 14 balls.
The Rajasthan Royals set a formidable target, scoring 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their innings. Dhruv Jurel was the standout performer, scoring 75 runs off 42 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed significantly with 55 runs off 36 balls. The Royals reached a strong position of 112 runs for 2 wickets within just 11 overs.
In response, the Gujarat Titans fought back with Sai Sudharsan scoring 73 runs, but ultimately fell short, leading to a victory for the Royals. Hetmyer’s performance was highlighted by his excitement for the IPL 2026 season, where he expressed that winning the first game is crucial for team morale.
“Winning the first game always helps, and everyone is in good spirits,” Hetmyer stated after the match. He also mentioned the challenges of batting at No. 3 compared to lower-order positions, emphasizing a need for a change in mindset. “Just a change of mindset. Batting at 3 makes a different challenge than batting at 5 or 6,” he explained.
Hetmyer stressed the importance of finishing games earlier in tight chases, saying, “One, get across the line! That’s the first one.” This victory sets a positive tone for the Rajasthan Royals as they look to build momentum in the tournament.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the next match schedule and the performance expectations for the upcoming games in the IPL 2026 season.
