The executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and judge on Shark Tank India posted the video shortly after Eid. In it, she described namaz as a form of full-body exercise that improves flexibility and blood circulation.

The response was swift and negative. Thapar stated that she has been called derogatory names for three weeks due to her comments. She has previously created content on various faiths without controversy, making this backlash particularly notable.

Thapar invoked the concept of karma in response to the trolling. “Hinduism has a concept called Karma. God is watching,” she said. Her message emphasized respect across religions, highlighting the importance of understanding and tolerance.

But the online abuse raised broader questions about the treatment of women in social media spaces. Thapar questioned why there is often silence surrounding such abuse, especially against women who speak out.

She urged people to amplify her message of respect instead of spreading negativity. “Aapke liye koi nahi bolega. You have to speak up for yourself,” she stated emphatically.

Thapar’s video on namaz was not her first exploration of religious practices and their health benefits. She has made several reels focusing on Hindu customs, which have not drawn similar backlash.

Negative reels about her have gone viral, prompting her to challenge viewers to engage with her positive content instead. “Negative reels meri bohat viral ho gayi hain. Ab yeh waali, viral karke dikhaaiyye,” she remarked, inviting people to share her message positively.
