Raja Shivaji Film Set for Release on May 1, 2026

The film ‘Raja Shivaji’ chronicles the rise of young Shivaji Bhonsale. It is set for a worldwide release on May 1, 2026. Riteish Deshmukh serves as director, lead actor, writer, and producer.

The trailer was released on April 20, 2026. The film will be available in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu. It features an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, and Genelia Deshmukh.

Deshmukh has spent 10 years trying to make this film. “For 10 years, I have been trying to make Raja Shivaji. When we finally began in 2023, it feels like even Maharaj is saying – now your time has come,” he said.

The movie depicts Shivaji’s fight against invaders trying to sabotage the Maratha empire. It aims to showcase both his strategic brilliance and valor.

The film’s music is composed by Ajay–Atul, while cinematography is handled by Santosh Sivan. The release date coincides with Maharashtra Day—a holiday commemorating the formation of Maharashtra.

Salman Khan will make a cameo appearance in the film, though details of his role remain undisclosed. Riteish Deshmukh’s son, Rahyl, plays the young Shivaji.

Jyoti Deshpande stated that ‘Raja Shivaji’ is not just a film but a celebration of India’s spirit and identity. Genelia Deshmukh added that it is a heartfelt tribute to the legend and everything he stands for.
