Aaryamann sethi: Aayushmaan Sethi Faces Credit Card Fraud
Aayushmaan Sethi’s experience raises a critical question: How safe are free trial offers? His case highlights the risks involved in such promotions.
Aayushmaan lost Rs 87,000 in a credit card scam. The scam was tied to a deceptive seven-day free trial that unexpectedly charged him for a full year’s subscription. Initially, he approved a $0 transaction, unaware of the larger amount that would follow.
Archana Puran Singh advised Aayushmaan to cancel his card and contact the bank immediately. Parmeet Sethi suggested he should focus on canceling the payment instead of the entire card. This advice reflects a common confusion surrounding digital payments and subscription traps.
Previously, Aayushmaan faced a similar situation. He lost Rs 80,000 from his PlayStation account about a year ago. Such incidents highlight the growing concern over credit card fraud.
Aayushmaan expressed frustration at his attempts to reach customer support. “I have no option. They said it will take them 48 hours to respond,” he stated. He felt trapped in an endless loop of automated responses—”They are making me speak to the AI only,” he added.
The family reacted with a mix of concern and humor during their vlog about the incident. Yet, this situation is no laughing matter for Aayushmaan.
As digital payments become more prevalent, awareness of potential scams is crucial. The dangers of deceptive free trials can lead to significant financial loss for unsuspecting customers.
While this incident has drawn attention, what remains unclear is how many others have fallen victim to similar scams. Consumer protection measures may need strengthening as these fraudulent schemes evolve.
