Eci: Election Commission of India to Publish Supplementary Voter List
The Election Commission of India will publish a supplementary voter list today in West Bengal. This action comes amid ongoing controversies regarding voter exclusions. The commission aims to address the pending records related to the electoral rolls.
Before this announcement, there were significant concerns about the accuracy of the voter list. Many voters found their names missing, raising alarms about potential disenfranchisement. The situation escalated as political parties voiced their objections.
Now, with the publication of the supplementary list, 27 lakh pending voter records have been settled. Approximately 2 lakh names are processed daily under the Special Investigation Revision (SIR) process.

Voters can appeal online via the ECI Net app or offline at district offices if they have objections to the list. and Nineteen appeal tribunals have been established across 23 districts following Supreme Court directives.
In contrast, Tamil Nadu recently published its final electoral rolls, revealing a drop in voter count from 6.41 crore to 5.67 crore. The largest constituency is Shozhinganallur with 5,36,991 electors, while Thiruvallur district has the highest number of electors at 31,57,413.
Archana Patnaik emphasized that anyone can check their names on the website. This accessibility aims to enhance transparency and trust in the electoral process.
The upcoming elections will test these new measures in both states. Political parties are preparing for an active campaign period as they respond to these developments.
