Manchester United climbed to third place with 64 points from 35 matches. Liverpool sits fourth with 58 points, level with Aston Villa.
Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital before the match after feeling unwell. Ferguson managed Manchester United from 1986 until 2013, winning 38 trophies.
Carrick commented on the team’s performance, stating, “We’re in good shape really.” Ferguson was conscious and undergoing precautionary checks before being taken away.
Mainoo struck from the edge of the box to seal the win. Observers noted that this match showcased both teams’ resilience and competitive spirit.
