Mönchengladbach vs dortmund
By Rohan Mehta / 04.05.2026
Haris Tabaković’s late goal secured a crucial 1-0 victory for Borussia Mönchengladbach against Borussia Dortmund. The match took place at Borussia-Park, marking Gladbach’s first win over Dortmund since November 2022.
Tabaković scored in the 88th minute, but the goal was initially ruled offside. After a VAR review, officials confirmed he was onside when he received the pass from Reitz.
This win guarantees Mönchengladbach’s Bundesliga status for next season. They had not won a league match since March 13. Before this match, they were six points clear of the relegation zone.
Dortmund needed three points to secure second place in the league but has lost three of their last four games. Despite the loss, Nico Schlotterbeck was voted Man of the Match with 29 percent of the vote.
Nico Elvedi had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, which further emphasized the tight nature of the match. Both teams are now looking towards their remaining fixtures.
With only two games left in the season, observers anticipate how both teams will perform under pressure. Dortmund has already secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
