AINRC Achieves Victory in Puducherry Assembly Elections

The AINRC-led NDA achieved a significant victory in the Puducherry assembly elections, winning 18 out of 30 seats despite a strong challenge from the INDIA bloc. The election recorded a historic voter turnout of 91.23%.

The NDA coalition consists of several political parties, including the All India NR Congress (AINRC), BJP, and AIADMK. In this election, the NDA won 18 seats: AINRC secured 12 seats, BJP won 4, AIADMK got 1, and LJK took another seat.

The INDIA bloc managed to secure six seats, with DMK winning five and Congress taking one. Independent candidates also made their mark by winning three seats. Additionally, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won two seats while its ally Neyam Makkal Katchi (NMK) claimed one.

N Rangasamy, the incumbent chief minister and founder of AINRC, won the Thattanchavady constituency by a margin of 4,441 votes. He also successfully defended his seat in Mangalam. Several constituencies featured neck-and-neck battles with slim margins.

Prominent candidates who faced defeat included R Selvam, R Siva, V P Ramalingame, and M Vaithianathan. Their losses highlight the competitive nature of this election.

The results reflect shifting political dynamics in Puducherry as various parties vie for influence. The next steps for these political parties remain uncertain as they assess their strategies moving forward.
