Ligue 1: Lyon Defeats PSG 2-1 at Parc des Princes
By Vikram Nair / 20.04.2026
“The sky is the limit,” said Thierry Henry after Lyon’s impressive victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Lyon defeated PSG 2-1 at Parc des Princes on April 20, 2026. Endrick opened the scoring in the 6th minute. Afonso Moreira doubled the lead just twelve minutes later, finding the net in the 18th minute.
PSG struggled to respond. Gonçalo Ramos had a penalty saved in the first half, further hampering their efforts. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored a consolation goal for PSG during stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough.
This match marked a significant moment for Lyon. They claimed their first win over PSG since April 2023. The victory propelled them from sixth to third place in Ligue 1 standings.
Endrick’s goal was his fourth of the league season. He has emerged as a key player for Lyon this year. Meanwhile, Warren Zaïre-Emery became the youngest player to reach 40 appearances in the Champions League recently.
Warren Zaïre-Emery also made headlines by debuting for France at just 17 years old. His performance continues to impress coaches and fans alike.
In other news, Paul Pogba returned to play for Monaco after an injury layoff. His comeback adds depth to the team as they push for better results.
Lyon’s victory not only boosted their standing but also showcased their potential under pressure. Coach Paulo Fonseca will likely emphasize this momentum moving forward.
Yet, PSG remains one point ahead of second-placed Lens with a game in hand. The title race continues to heat up as teams vie for top positions.
Lyon’s win also came during a time of solidarity; Lens played a friendly to support journalist Christophe Gleizes, who is imprisoned in Algeria.
Details remain unconfirmed about future matches and player conditions as teams prepare for upcoming fixtures.
